Remember those really clashing ugly log cabin blocks of the month I was working on? Well looky now! It did all come together. I took a different approach than the design team - they used a light fabric with coordinating burgandy squares as corner posts. Being the cheapskate that I am -= I couldn't buy the finishing kit and just KNEW I'd find similar fabric at a lower price (Alco carries name brands at about $4 a yd and have frequent sales too). SO I bought a fabric that I thought was the same and got home and it was a horrid match. But I had this black laying there and I kept picking it up. I remembered someone saying about their crazy quilts that they always had to put some black fabric in to make it work. And wala! I love it. It's going to go to my Great Aunt Charlotte next month when my parent's go to visit her.
I saw the picture on facebook and so glad you posted on your blog so I could get a better look. It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI think you set those blocks off perfectly, Brooke! I saw it on Facebook, too. I think your great aunt will really be happy with this quilt.

Designers always say you should have some black in every room, too. It may well be a miracle worker! Looks great!
